Royal Palace on Mount Schachen
Royal Palace on Mount Schachen
His castle was his throne!
King Ludwig’s House on Mount Schachen is a truly regal place. King Ludwig II is the only king who would have thought of building such a structure in this environment. Although the façade is a little plain, a vibrant play of colors is displayed inside.
The Botanical Garden, with its over 1,500 different flowers and plants, is also worth seeing, at close to 1,800 m (5906 ft.) above sea level!
The Schachenhaus adjacent to the castle offers lodging and a place to rest. It is also an ideal starting point for other hiking tours, for example, up to Mount Dreitorspitze or down to the Oberreintal valley.
